Episode 12: The Things That Matter

After a brief hiatus we are back. Today we talk about seasons and habits and distractions and getting back to what really matters. People are growing weary of all the things the world has to offer - things that come and go, and in the end do us no favors. In the meantime, the things that matter may not carry the luster, but they last. Eventually we come back to them, and through grace, they continue to be available to us. There is no greater example of this than God's Word. Join us with some real talk! 

Episode 11: So That You May Have Joy

In a life full of distractions, we lose sight of what really matters. Simple truths such as love become confused. How does our view of love compare to God's definition of love? In the end, mostly everything will go away, and love is one of three things that will remain. And while there's no shortage of temporary things that promise joy, there is one promise that is THE true source of joy.  

Episode 10: Fake It ’til You Make It, Right?

We spend part of our life in the wilderness and part of our life in the crowd. Who are you in each scenario? Are you the same, or is there two versions of you? Jesus had a lot to say about this - He even called folks "whitewashed tombs." But he also led by example, often pursuing the wilderness. Society seems to invest a lot of energy toward avoiding the wilderness experiences of trials and solitude as well as hiding the "wilderness identities" of ourselves. But there is much to be gained by embracing these experiences and being real about our true identity. 

Episode 9: There is No Spain

This week we host our second special guest; one of "The Leslies!" In our discussion we talk about a few of the tangible "milestones" that we have to indicate how we are progressing in our faith, and the role those can play as we experience the inevitable - suffering. Oftentimes suffering and despair can leave us feeling lost because it's the not the destination we had in mind. But as we travel through life, it becomes clear that many of us begin by pursuing a destination that doesn't really exist, and it isn't until we adjust our expectations that are able experience true joy and gratitude in suffering. 

Episode 8: The Value of Margin

As society continues to be increasingly plagued by stress and anxiety, one of todays greatest obstacles to knowing Jesus has become a lack of time. This does not have to be; not even for folks with busy lives and tremendous responsibilities. It is possible to honor God's instruction of sabbath by creating MARGIN in our lives. It is in that margin that we come to know God's blessings.  

Episode 7: On Mission Every Day

As believers we are all called to live "on mission." We hear it, and we know it, but that doesn't always translate to embracing it by living it. Many components of life are constantly in tension with maintaining a missional mindset. Today we talk about just that. How can we cut out distractions? How can we embrace where God has us right now, and live like we are on mission? It seems complicated, but often that "first step" is the biggest obstacle. Let's dig in and talk about it!

Episode 6: Looking For Directions

Everyone experiences times in life when they are lost - literally, figuratively, and spiritually. Many folks invest a lot of energy toward avoiding becoming lost, while others bank on the fact they'll be able to correct their course if they become lost. While there are advantages to each approach, there are also consequences. Today we discuss how perspective and understanding the promises of God can help us avoid the lasting consequences of being lost.

Today we are joined by an impromptu guest! We all experience "forks in the road," as they are part of life. But the route we choose, and whether or not our travels are accompanied by fear or assurance, is dependent on whether we know and believe the promises of God.

Episode 3: Living in a Battlefield/ Watching for Snares

This week we talk about leaders and followers, introverts and extroverts, and how none of us are exempt from dealing with the challenges associated with living in the battlefield of life. More importantly, we talk about how daily prayer can equip us to not become devastated every time the battle comes to our front door, and how it can help us be prepared for the snares that have been set to trip us up.
